The first delivery of the smallest access point from the UniFi AC series has arrived – the UAP-AC-IW .
It is comparable to the UAP-AC-LITE, although with a smaller reception range, but still with full functionality and 802.3af / at support.
Both the integration into the UniFi controller and the installation can be done via the UniFi app.
Of the UAP-AC-IW has a PoE output and a second LAN port. In contrast to the UAP-IW, it can be mounted with standard sockets as surface or flush-mounted installation.
In contrast to the AC Pro, it also has an additional PoE port on the bottom. This can be used to connect another access point or a VoIP telephone, for example.
The device is already set to DHCP in the delivery state and will work in the UniFi controller recognized and registered.
In the test we had a net data rate of ~ 120 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz and ~ 300 Mbps AC in the 5 GHz range in the immediate vicinity.
As stated by the manufacturer, the installation / assembly of the device can actually be done relatively easily if there is already an RJ45 connection in the flush-mounted socket.
Note: We recommend using a CAT. 5e cable or higher.
If an EdgeSwitch or UniFiSwitch from Ubiquiti is used in the network, its PoE functionality can be used for power supply and a PoE injector can be dispensed with.
Of course he can UAP-AC-IW can also be operated as a “single access point” in stand-alone mode. This requires configuration using the manufacturer’s app.
