Miniature meets magic: The Reutter display living room in 1:12 scale
8. July 2025 Hobbies & Leisure / Reutter

In a world that is constantly accelerating, we long for small retreats – in the truest sense of the word. The Reutter Miniatures Display Living Room (001.820/1) is such a retreat: a handmade miniature work of art on a scale of 1:12 that not only makes collectors’ hearts beat faster, but also celebrates real art of living in miniature.

Reutter miniatures – craftsmanship in 1:12 scale

In a digitalized world in which many things have become fleeting, Reutter Miniaturen has been preserving a form of art that requires time, precision and attention to detail for over seven decades. The small but fine manufactory from Ostfildern near Stuttgart has specialized in the production of high-quality miniature worlds in the classic 1:12 scale – and with a quality standard that is unparalleled worldwide.

From porcelain to doll’s house: A history in miniature

Founded in 1948 by Christa Reutter, everything began with the production of porcelain children’s tableware. It was not until the 1960s that the first doll’s house accessories were added – initially as a supplement, later as the main focus of the company. Today, Reutter Miniatures stands for:

  • Finest miniature porcelain, often refined with 24-carat gold
  • Complete scenarios, such as living rooms, pharmacies, bakeries or bureaus
  • Licenses for classics, for example with motifs from Beatrix Potter, Hummel or Flower Fairies
  • Traditional craftsmanship: each piece is cast, glazed and fired several times
  • Made in Germany: all products are created in the company’s own studio in Ostfildern

A family business with heart

The company is now owner-managed in the second generation and stands for consistency – both in terms of quality and design. Many of the employees have been with the company for decades and bring not only craftsmanship but also creative passion to each new piece.

“Our miniatures are not mass-produced – they are memories in miniature.”
– Reutter Miniaturen, company philosophy
