The frequency range between 57 GHz and 64 GHz, known as the 60 gigahertz band, has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for license-free use for gigabit WLANs and other radio technologies. In the following we present the high-performance products from Ubiquiti.
We have already reported about two hobbyhorses of the 60 GHz series: the GBE-LR and the UniFi Building-to-Building Bridge (UBB) !
UBB 60GHz Gigabit
UBB – 60 GHz Gigabit + Wireless Bridge Kit:
The UniFi Building-to-Building Bridge, model UBB, is the ideal solution for high-throughput connectivity and a range of up to 500 m. Integration with the UniFi application enables seamless bridging of two networks.
The UBB consists of two pre-paired end devices and offers a point-to-point connection (PtP) with up to 1 Gbit / s and 802.11ad technology in the low-interference 60 GHz radio band. A 5 GHz radio module with 802.11ac technology is available as a backup.
AF60 - airFiber 60GHz
AF60 – airFiber 60 GHz / 5 GHz radio system with 1+ Gbit / s throughput:
AF60 is a 60 GHz radio for low-interference, high-throughput connections. It is equipped with a high-gain antenna for long range and high performance. For the 60 GHz connection, the AF60 supports two channel width options: 2 GHz and 1 GHz.

The GigaBeam LR is a 60 GHz radio with a high gain parabolic antenna that is designed for low-interference, high-throughput connectivity for long-range operations. It includes a 5 GHz radio for failover. For the 60 GHz connection, the GigaBeam LR supports the full bandwidth utilization of 2.16 GHz. The dedicated management radio enables easy setup via WLAN.
