The new 3G/4G routers of the RUT2xx series by Teltonika are here.
With the RUT230 and the RUT240 there are two new models available.
Below, we will introduce these two models to you in more detail.
The RUT230 and RUT240 models are compact, cost-effective and powerful industrial routers for professional applications. They deliver high performance for mission-critical cellular communication, for example for solar installations, so that data can be retrieved from there. Equipped with an external SIM card holder and signal strength status LEDs, they ensure easy network management. External antenna connectors make it possible to exchange the included antennas for external ones to achieve the best possible signal quality.
The 2xx models are very small (83 x 74 x 25 mm) and economic routers.
Included in the delivery of both models is a power adapter, the required antennas for WLAN and 3G/4G, a LAN cable as well as a quick start guide.
The RUT230 is a 3G router with a maximum download rate of 14.5 Mbps, which makes it the perfect M2M router for industrial applications. During our test, we were able to achieve similar speeds.
The RUT240 is the LTE version of this model. Compared to the RUT230, it is possible to achieve much higher data transmission rates (LTE CAT4 - up to 70 Mbps for download). During out test, we reached approximately 35 Mbit, however, the reception inside our building is not the best. With good LTE reception and depending on the network load, it should be possible to achieve 70 Mbit with ease. You can improve the reception easily with the help of remote antennas. There are two LTE antennas already included in the delivery so that both polarizations can be used. The setup of this model is quick and easy, too. The Wi-Fi performance matches that of the RUT230.
Both routers are suitable for applications in places, such as solar or wind power plants and other hard-to-access places where the transmission of data is necessary. Because it is possible to attach the routers to a DIN rail (via a DIN rail mount that is available separately), they are ideal for industrial as well as M2M applications. But, of course, they are also suitable for use at home or in the garden.
Thanks to the external sim card holder of the RUT2xx routers, it is not necessary to disassemble their casing in order to insert a SIM card. The devices can be easily configured with the Teltonika app (Android, iOS) via Wi-Fi or with a browser via LAN cable. You simply have to insert the SIM card, enter the APN and PIN for the mobile connection and set up the WLAN. Then the device will provide Internet access right away, either via Wi-Fi (N standard, 150 Mbit gross) or via one of the two LAN ports (RJ45).
Two Ethernet ports can be used to act either as a main Internet connection or as a back-up connection.
Furthermore, you can manage your router remotely. With full support of the centralized Teltonika Remote Management System you will be able to access, control and monitor all routers (RUT2XX, RUT8XX and RUT9XX) within a single platform. This will help you make better decisions for future installations and best-use practices.
